Chris joined Oakham Veterinary Hospital small animal department back in 2008 when the purpose-built hospital on Ashwell Road had only been open for a couple of years.  He worked hard to acheive his Postgraduate certificate in Veterinary Cardiology in 2013 and is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as an Advanced Practitioner in this area.  This means that Chris is our resident Cardiology expert and sees some referral cases alongside his normal caseload.  He is fascinated by the study of the heart and circulation - it is the only organ that NEVER rests!

In 2015 Chris and fellow vet, Catriona Laird, became Partners in the Small animal hospital.  This came at the same time as completion of the large extension and upgrade to the facilities in this department.  Chris is delighted with the increased level of service that we are able to offer with the consult rooms, surgeries, in-patient facilities and equipment that we have available.

Chris lives in Melton Mowbray with his wife, 2 year-old son, a rescue cat (Jack) and a rescue Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Teddy) who, you've guessed it, has heart disease - which Chris is treating.  In his very rare free time Chris enjoys bell ringing, classical music, canoeing and hill walking (he's done 53 Munroes so far!).  He loves the hills of Scotland, North Wales and the Lakes and feels very much at home scrambling up a ridge desperately heading for a summit.
