Werner qualified at Ghent University (Belgium) where he majored in Equine Medicine. Soon after he moved to the East Midlands to join an ambulatory equine practice in Leicestershire before joining OVH in 2020. Werner enjoys all aspects of general equine practice, but has a particular interest in orthopaedics and medical imaging. Coming from a farrier’s background (his dad is a remedial farrier in Belgium), orthopaedic shoeing and all hoof associated problems are also a subject he is passionate about. He is currently specialising in equine orthopaedics by working towards an RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in lameness diagnosis and therapeutics.
In his spare time Werner enjoys being outdoors on his mountain bike or on foot with his German Pointer Nala who joins him at work every day. He also enjoys playing rugby on Saturdays with the local Uppingham team “Stoney Gate”.
