Our ambulatory services are based out of our Oakham Veterinary Hospital base and cover a large catchment area including Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire.
Routine visits can be arranged by prior appointment and are charged on a ten mile banding scale from three different central points throughout the East Midlands. Appointments can be made Monday-Friday between 8am and 5.30pm. Where possible we try to group local visits together to make a more efficient use our time and to allow us to provide reduced visit fee’s to our clients. Where possible we will try to accommodate a request for a specific vet but if an emergency call comes in, this is not always possible.
Our emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and includes a rotating team of vets, surgeons, interns and nurses. In the event of an emergency the ‘on call’ veterinary surgeon will be available to discuss any worries and can provide prompt veterinary attention at your home. If your horse has a more serious condition it can quickly be referred and admitted to the hospital for specialist surgery or medicinal care.
Our ambulatory team are all experienced equine vets and can provide a wide range of routine services at your premises. These include vaccinations, dentals, pre purchase examinations, routine health checks, lameness evaluations, import/export testing and reproduction work. Our vets also provide emergency cover for local point to points, Leicester Racecourse, team chasing and British Eventing/ Showjumping competitions. It is also possible for us to carry out some relatively minor surgical procedures such as castrations and wolf teeth removal at your premises.
